Chapter 10
WILL CUPPED the back of Phil’s head and pulled him down while simultaneously lifting for his lover’s kiss. A moan of satisfaction left him the second Phil’s mouth touched his. Everything was once again right in the world with Phil’s first touch. Phil flicked his tongue and slid it across Will’s lips. Will tried to play hard to get, but in truth he was so easy for this man it was pretty embarrassing. With a whimper he opened his mouth, and Phil claimed victory. Will moved his hands from the back of Phil’s head to grip either side of his hips and tugged, succumbing to the need to touch more of Phil. It didn’t take a lot of convincing that closer together was better. Phil’s eager response had Will pressed further back into the sofa and covered with a familiar body. As always, a lapful of Phil Alcorn’s writhing hot body was damn near ecstasy.
Will already felt his lips swelling from Phil’s loving assault, the sting a reminder of the passion between them that only grew stronger each time they got together. Will partially understood Phil’s fears—they were, after all, reasonable—but in this case Will knew the risk was worth the reward. For all his lover’s fatalistic talk of relationships, Will suspected that a kernel of Phil’s mind told him they could make things work with enough effort on their parts. He’d seen the look on Phil’s face while looking at Nick and Gabe last Christmas. It had been an expression of longing and desire. Not for either of their friends, of course, but for the connection they shared.
Will knew if they reached for it, a similar connection could be theirs. There was already an invisible thread that tethered their hearts and minds. That was why each time they came together it never felt as though the time and distance had driven them apart. Quite the opposite, in fact. That had to mean something special. And Phil wanted Will, of that he had no doubt. Will had been with enough men over the years that he could tell a difference between someone, even himself, going through the motions of fucking and someone actively seeking to share pleasure, share an experience more intimate than the mating of bodies.
Phil’s confession of love had almost given Will a heart attack. But in typical Phil fashion, he’d said the words and then moved on. Phil’s specialty wasn’t language, but that didn’t make the acknowledgment any less dear to Will. In a way it was a relief, because now Will didn’t have to hide his love anymore. It was recognized. It was returned. The unknown factor now was what they would do with it.
These were matters to debate at another time. At this moment nothing mattered more than Phil’s hot tongue twisting around his and the pounding beat of their hearts as their chests smashed together. Phil put his hands up and covered Will’s ears, imprisoning him for Phil’s mouth, though Will was a willing captive.
